- Satellite distances (9 km and 3 km) in the best traditions of X-Waters are also from point A to point B. No swimming in rounds!

- Excellent geographical location and infrastructure: already three hours after the swim you can listen to Mozart at the Vienna Opera or enjoy a gondola tour in the big canal in Venice.

AUSTRIAN PEARL

Wörthersee lake‑ is one of the pearls of Austria that attracts tourists with its enchanting panorama, hospitable beaches, magnificence of the Alpine peaks and the serene calm of clean water. The lake is located at an altitude of 485 meters in the heart of the Carinthian‑ region which borders on Italy and Slovenia. The climate here is warm, very mild, almost Mediterranean. In September, water generally remains warmed up to 20-24 C, depending on the year.

Convenient infrastructure and beautiful landscapes have made Wörthersee the most popular holiday destination in Austria and Germany. Life here is rich with sports activities, festivals and active recreation. The lake is surrounded by eight resort towns, each has something interesting to look at. They are typical Austrian, well-groomed and cozy, while each has its own character. The most famous are Velden and Klagenfurt. The main distance of 17 km is located just between them. Do not forget to look around while you are swimming!

I've had just three starts with # xwaters for now: 1 km at Volga Swim 2016, 3 km at STADA Volga Swim 2017 and a shortened mile at Seliger Swim 2017. But I'm not going to stop. It was the first crossing of the Volga when my passion for swimming really began. I liked swimming before, but as it turned out, it was quite another swim. And here, too, I was helped by the inspirer of the project #xwaters Alexander Bazanov, swimming coach in combination. I learned the first basics of crawl at his seminar, for which I would like to thank him specially. I'm planning to improve my results at to join all the swims of #xwaters series!

Why swim? Why not just go to the bar?! Dozens of these and similar questions I hear every day. And you just try. Touch these emotions. Try this challenge on yourself. Who knows, maybe then you find the answer?.. ;)

I participated at the first Arctic Swim (another swimming race by X-Waters) in August 2017 I expected an adventure and I got a really impressive Open water competition at Gods forgotten land. With a really beautiful nature and a wonderful sea. with a watertemperature of about 8° it was perfect to have an amazing neoprenswim in cold water in the mid of summer. It was a really great experience in the family of X-waters.

World Cup and extreme international races.

One day this summer I was surfing the internet and I found a web that was presenting a swimming race in the Barents Sea (another swimming race by X-Waters). Wow I said. I already been in the Polar circle for a swimming race but this one is even northern. I thought that it would have been a very nice race but very difficult to organize and for me very far to reach but I booked anyway. I immediately discovered a group of very professional organizer. From the beginning they were very helpful for the Visa procedure and I hadn't any problem in obtaining it in a very short period. As soon as I arrived in Murmansk I felt very comfortable because all the informations for the logistic part of the race were updated and I didn't had any problem in finding the bus to Teriberka on Saturday morning. All the accommodations were ready for everyone. The logistic part of the organization is very important for the athlete and when is managed so well by the organizer is really a great thing. Unfortunately many times you don't find this competence. The races were organized very well and I felt secure every moment of the swim. There were boats and always people watching at me. When you swim in cold water without a wet suit this is what you ask for. On my opinion everything was perfect and I can't find something to blame for but the best thing I found is the friendly spirit we had in the two days of the swims. We were all friends without any competitive feelings and from the organizer to the last swimmer the only thought was to have fun and relax. This is what I am searching on my swimming trip around the world. Thanks for your big job. see you next year. Volga river is waiting for me.

When I am asked "why do you swim?", it is always difficult for me to answer quickly and clearly, it seemed to me that my words were unconvincing. Well, yes, I like water; well, yes, that's a sport and it's good for your back; well, yes, cool hangouts... More important is, to find an answer for myself: what moves me when there is only 20 hours in my dense schedule, and I fly to Nizhny Novgorod, straight from the airport rush to the start, pull the swimming suit on along the run, and fly back when all friends are still asleep; or why do you join those madmen who are swimming at the edge of the earth in the Arctic Ocean... And then it dawned on me: I really really like swimming and I love traveling and adventure! And for me now these words are enough to start planning the next season with X-Waters‑ because that's how I do what I love!
