What an amazing accomplishment it would be to swim across the largest river in Europe! Swim across the Volga River! This swim is for those who seek something truly unique in the open water, and yes, Russia has so much to offer...
In honor of the anniversary, the swim will be grandiose. Get ready not only to cross the Volga, but also to have a good time on our sports festival! - The largest Russian open water start, 2 000 participants in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021, a living legend. The first race and still the main race in the X-WATERS Series of races. - You will cross the longest and deepest river in Europe, iconic Russian river, "Mother Volga", one of the few rivers that are known all over the world.

- Right in the place of the swim, Volga is joined with another large river ‑ Oka; as a result, that's a large water with variable flow, temperature and a unique character.
- The river is different every year and every day, participants swim a different race every year! What will it be this year is impossible to predict, which is where the challenge lies! We can be sure just about one thing: you will dive into an unforgettable and unique adventure!

1 km: start from a sandy beach on the Mochalny Peninsula. View of the city center, the Kremlin and the Chkalovskaya staircase. Transfer to the start by the ship. Finish‑ in line of sight. Throughout the course of the swim there is a lateral current, which can be more or less strong (every year is different). The strongest current is ‑ by the end of the distance. The effective length of the distance can be from 1000 to 1500 meters, depending on the current and individual trajectory. Finish is on the embankment near the boat "Geroy".
3 km: start from a grass-sandy beach on the left bank of the Volga. View of Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the “Nizhny Novgorod” stadium. Transfer to the start by bus. Finish in line of sight and the track is straight. The first two kilometers pass along the current, then the same as the distance of 1 km. Effective length of the distance = 3100 m. Finish is on the embankment near the boat "Geroy".
5 km: start from a sandy beach on the right bank of the Volga. River view. Transfer to the start by bus. The distance consists of 2 straight sections with an intermediate control point ON THE SHORE. The first part is ‑crossing the Volga from right to left‑ to the starting point of 3 km distance, then passing the control point on the shore (as close to the water as the shore allows) and then‑ similar to 3 km distance. Effective length of the distance = 5500 m.
Finish is on the embankment near the boat "Geroy".
For Russian swimmers this event is especially significant: "Mother Volga" is legendary river, the core of the Russian people, the imaginative ideal reflected in the culture and soul of every Russian.
The race also happens to be the biggest race in Russia and is located in the city of Nizhny Novgorod (formerly Gorky). Nizhny is about 400 km east of Moscow and is a beautiful and historic city of over 1 million people, founded in 1221.
The participation at X-WATERS Volga gives you the opportunity to spend a great weekend with a support group or with your family in Nizhny Novgorod, an old and very beautiful city. The city is interesting with monuments of architecture from the 17th-19th centuries and a unique natural relief with stunning views of the Volga valley. In Soviet times, it was a large industrial center, now it has become the main center of river tourism in Russia. Nizhny is a great place to visit: a lot of clubs and restaurants with friendly prices and great service, long waterfront embankments for jogging, worthy museums and the longest cable car in Europe... right over the river, with a great view of the Volga Swim course. The city is easy to reach and has dozens of flights and railway connections daily.
