X-WATERS Vladivostok 2021

Swim the Eastern Bosphorus!

17-19 September
2021

Vladivostok,
Eastern Bosphorus, Russky Island

10 km, 5 km, 2000 m, 1200 m,
Kids swims, Embrace Russia

What's the challenge?

Russia has got their own Eastern Bosphorus (and this is an official name), it is located in Vladivostok and separates Russky Island from the mainland connecting the Amur and Ussuri bays. If these names do not ring the bell yet, we envy you as your wonderful discoveries are still ahead!

Enjoy the distance in the best X-WATERS traditions - from one point to another across the Eastern Bosphorus sea strait. See the sunrise under the spans of the largest cable bridge in the world (the one on the 2000 rubles banknote), swim along the rocky forested shore and monumental artillery batteries. Enjoy clear landmarks, stunning views, clean, light, and comfortable water.
Finish in Ajax Bay, the bottom of which is dotted with oysters, scallops, trepangs, sea urchins and finger fish of all colors and sizes. Go ashore on Russky Island, on the embankment in front of the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University and the site of the Eastern Economic Forum – the biggest landscaped recreation area of Vladivostok. After the swim you will find a lot of historical and natural attractions, which are worth seeing together with your whole family.

The swim is included in the sports program of the Eastern Economic Forum, and is also part of the unique X-WATERS project "Embrace Russia", in which you can also take part!

WHERE THE PACIFIC OCEAN BEGINS

Vladivostok is the main base of the Pacific Fleet, the end point of the Trans-Siberian highway and the "fish capital of Russia", which the National Geographic editors included in the top ten most beautiful seaside cities in the world - it is worth visiting for at least a few days.

Swim in the largest and most picturesque gulf of the Sea of Japan. Reach the 1910 lighthouse on the west side of the Eastern Bosphorus - the place that is considered the beginning of the Pacific Ocean. Drive along the world's longest cable bridge to the Seaside Oceanarium. Dive for an oyster. Get inside a submarine. Eat a ton of seafood. Wander around a city built on countless hills and at the junction of civilizations: Japan to the east, China to the west, Korea to the south. Russian city built by Germans, Danes, and British. European city in Asia. A city whose residents are sure: the sun in Russia rises here, from the Sea of Japan.
